A Cosy Saturday at Bog Myrtle

Despite the fact that it's still technically summer here in the Scottish Highlands, the cold weather has made it feel incredibly autumnal. I'm pretty sad we haven't had much of a summer here, but I am trying to enjoy each time of year for what it is. In an attempt to embrace some cosy vibes on a cold and miserable Saturday, we decided to combine a delivery run on North West Skye with a visit to Bog Myrtle, a cafe and bookshop in Struan.

This is my second visit to Bog Myrtle, but it has recently had a bit of a makeover, and we love in one it even more now. It's exactly the kind of place to sit down and enjoy watching the weather outside whilst reading a book. We brought our books along with us (this is what I'm currently reading) and loved the chilled atmosphere inside as a wee respite from a busy week at work.

We decided to have some lunch when we arrived, so Finlay ordered broccoli and Stilton soup, whilst I enjoyed a delicious baked aubergine with halloumi, tahini and pureed parsnip. All these vegetarian flavours were delicious, but also incredibly cosy and just what we wanted on a cold and wet day.

Afterwards, we decided it would be rude not to enjoy coffee and cake. I decided to treat myself to a hot chocolate, whilst Finlay had an americano. We also decided to share a delicious chocolate, almond and blackcurrent torte (a lot of my favourite things in one cake) and a homemade cinamon roll (which we also absolutely loved when we ate it at home the next day). I'd highly trying the breads and cakes here. They are currently being made by a local bakehouse on the Isle of Skye and they are just so good.

If you're looking for a cosy spot on the Isle of Skye to enjoy some good food, great coffee and somewhere to curl up and read a book, I'd highly recommend a visit to Bog Myrtle in Struan.
