A Highland City Break at Ness Walk Hotel, Inverness

Ness Walk Hotel, Inverness

For me, living on the West Coast of Scotland is really wonderful. I love being amongst the mountains and sea lochs. I love being in such a quiet and rural place. But every so often, I crave city life. I come from Glasgow, so I'm used to living in a big place and, although I love our rural life, there are times when all I want to do is wander around a city.

That's why I love Inverness so much. As the Capital of the Highlands, it has all the benefits of being a city, with great food options (such as Hou Hou Mei or Velocity Cafe) and all the shops and cafes you could need, without being too far from the beautiful Highland countryside that I love.

After finding a pretty incredible deal online, we ended up staying at Ness Walk Hotel in the centre of Inverness. This is a spot I've always wanted to stay at and I was not disappointed. We were welcomed to our stay with a glass of champagne on arrival and shown the utmost care by all the staff at Ness Walk. Our room was cosy and comfortable, whilst also being a lovely luxurious space.

One of the biggest highlights for me of staying at Ness Walk was the location. In about 10 minutes, we were in the centre of Inverness. We didnt have to worry about car parking or anything like that. We didn't have time restrictions. We could just wander into the city when we wanted to. It just made our time in the city so much more relaxed and enjoyable. We were able to walk to our meal at Hou Hou Mei without having to worry about how would drive home, allowing Finlay to enjoy a drinks flight for his birthday.

Our Breakfast Table, Ness Walk, Inverness

Another big highlight for me was the breakfast offerings at Ness Walk. I love a hotel breakfast and I can honestly say this was one of my favourites. For their continental selection, there was a selection of fresh fruit, yogurts and cereals, and cold meats and cheeses, as well as breakfast pastries. If you wanted a cooked breakfast, you can order them from one of the waiters to order. This means we were able to order exactly what we wanted when we wanted it, and also meant we didn't order anything we didn't want. Although I loved being able to order a cooked breakfast, I decided to leave off haggis and mushrooms from my meal as I knew I wouldn't need them.

Staying at Ness Walk allowed us to have the perfect stay in the centre of Inverness. We were able to visit all the spots we wanted to without ever needing to move the car. We enjoyed a cosy and comfortable few days in the big city without feeling rushed. It was truly the ideal city break for me-a chance to unwind and enjoy things we don't normally get to enjoy at home.
