An Ideal Day Off in Beauly

My ideal day off usually involves getting a nice lunch somewhere, grabbing a cake and coffee afterwards and then have a wee wander. Thankfully, a few weeks ago, I was able to have my perfect day off when we went to the little village of Beauly for the day.

Beauly is a quaint little Highland village just north of Inverness. It's a great little spot for exploring and meandering about in the little shops and Beauly has a lot of wonderful options of things to explore.

We had lunch at the Corner on the Square in Beauly. If you are looking for a delightful, delicious spot to have some tasty and nutrious lunch options, I would really recommend this deli in Beauly. I had a chicken and avocado salad, whilst Finlay enjoyed a homemade pea and mint soup. Both were so yummy and really felt like they nourished us on our day off. It was also nice to have a wee browse of all the different produce they had for sale in their shop. They sell loads of great food and drink offerings from all over the Highlands, Scotland and even further afield. I would recommend checking it out if you are looking for something new to try. As well as this, they have a cute fruit and veg shop next door which was selling locally grown vegetables and fruit. We picked up some local Victoria Plums for a wee post lunch nibble which were delicious!

After buying their new cookbook at the Highland Bookshop in Fort William, we were hoping to visit Bad Girl Bakery in Muir of Ord as we were leaving Beauly. Thankfully they were still open when we passed through and we managed to sit in for a hot drink and a chocolate orange cookie sandwich to share between us. It was SO delicious! I'm so glad we got to visit this amazing wee spot in person and I'm hoping we can head back again the next time we are in that part of the Highlands. I'm also really excited to visit their new venture in Inverness' Victorian Market. It'll definitely be an easier option for us to visit, so I'm excited to see what that looks like when it opens soon.

Some Tips

  • We parked in Braeview Car Park in Beauly. It was an ideal spot to easily access everything Beauly had to offer as well as offering free parking in the middle of village

  • Both the Corner on the Square and Bad Girl Bakery were open on a Monday when we visited, something that is sometimes quite hard to find in the Scottish Highlands.
