Autumn in Beauly

Beauly in autumn

Over the last four years of travelling and exploring in the Scottish Highlands, there are a few places that have really stood out to me as beautiful Highland towns and villages. Often these places aren't the ones tourists are flocking. They're often quaint and pretty and full of charm. They are places I can see myself returning to again and again.

One of those places is Beauly. We visited Beauly for the first time in summer 2022 and I've been dreaming of visiting in the autumn months ever since.

We arrived in the early afternoon and spend a wee while wandering through the streets of Beauly and window shopping as we went. We managed to visit Beauly on a beautiful sunny and crisp autumn day, which really made the day off feel extra special. After a pretty horrible wet summer here in the Scottish Highlands, having a beautiful autumnal day to explore this village made such a big difference.

We decided to have some lunch in Beauly, so stopped at one of our favourite eatery and deli, Corner on the Square. If you're looking for a local shop to have some delicious lunch options, such as homemade soups or delicious sandwiches or toastie, Corner on the Square is the spot for you.

We decided to have two items from the specials menu for lunch. I had a lemon and garlic coconut chicken wrap, with tzakiki, lettuce and tomato, as well as side salad and side of coleslaw. Finlay opted for a homemade quiche, with brie, red onion marmalade and cherry tomatoes. Both were really delicious and something we wouldn't normally have at home, which made them extra special. After our lunch, we had some coffees and homemade cakes. A real treat on our autumnal day off.

If you're looking for a cosy little village to explore just outside Inverness, I cannot recommend Beauly enough. It is such a beautiful little spot, full of lovely tree lined streets, amazing independent coffee shops and eateries, and really comes into its own in the autumn months.
