What love could remember, no wrong we have done
Omniscient, all-knowing, He counts not their sum
Thrown into a sea without bottom or shore
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more
One thing I love about living in the Scottish Highlands is being able to be near beautiful lochs, rivers or the sea almost all the time. I just love being near water and exploring these incredible places. During calm days, they bring me just a sense of peace. Yet, during stormy days, they remind of the power of the water as they gush and flow into the bigger body of water.
The first verse of His Mercy is More really reminds me what it means to spend time near the water. It reminded me of one the verses from one of my favourite psalms.
"For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is His love for those who fear Him;
as far as the east is from the west,
so far has He removed our transgressions from us."
Psalm 103:11-12
When I look out to the sea loch near our house, I can see the other side of the water. I can't see the bottom, but I know there is one. God's incredible love for us stretches out beyond our imagination. It stretches so far that He even sent His Son Jesus to die in our place. He wanted to remove our wrongs in the only way that was possible.
This Easter time, as I look out to the seas and lochs of the Scottish Highlands, I will be reminded of all the incredible things God has done for me. Casting my sins far out into the sea. His Mercy is More.
