Five of my Favourite Views in the Scottish Highlands

Five Sisters of Kintail, Glenshiel, Lochalsh, Scottish Highlands

One of my favourite things about living in the Scottish Highlands is the amount of incredibly beautiful we have right on our doorstep. It's a truly beautiful place and it's no wonder so many people from all over the world have the Scottish Highlands high on their bucket list.

This list of five of my favourite views is obviously incredibly subjective and entirely my own opinion, but I thought it might be a fun way to share some of my favourite spots in the Highlands, especially since many of my favourite spots are slightly more unusual.

The Five Sisters of Kintail (from Mam Ratagan)

Probably my favourite view in the Scottish Highlands, I'm in a very blessed position to say that I live and work right at the foot of this incredible mountain range. I do still have ambitions to climb at least one of these munros, but, until then, I am very happy to look at them from the ground.

A Misty Five Sisters of Kintail, Glenshiel, Lochalsh, Scottish Highlands

My favourite place to view these mountains is from Mam Ratagan, a viewpoint about halfway over the mountain pass road to Glenelg. Next time you head to Glenelg to catch the Glenelg Skye Ferry or head for a cosy meal at the Glenelg Inn, make sure you stop for a while to take in the dramatic views over to the Five Sisters.

Nairn Beach at Golden Hour, Nairnshire, Scottish Highlands

Nairn Beach

If I was to choose a spot in the Scottish Highlands that I consistently feel the calmest at, it would be Nairn Beach. We're very blessed to have one of our best friends living in Nairn so visiting this spot is a fairly regular occurance for us. Even still, having the oppurtunity to explore this beautiful spot is one of my favourite things to do in the Scottish Highlands. It also helps that one of my favourite ice cream spots (James's at the Putting Green) is nearby.

Isle of Skye from the Isle of Raasay Distillery

The Isle of Skye from Isle of Raasay

One of my favourite things about visiting the Isle of Raasay is the incredible views from Raasay over to the Isle of Skye. In my opinion, its one of the best ways to see the beauty of the Isle of Skye, without the crowd levels.

My favourite view of the island is from Raasay Distillery, although I also love the views you can see from the village of Inverarish. It's truly some of the best views in the Scottish Highlands.

Three Sisters of Glencoe, Glencoe, Lochalsh, Scottish Highlands

Glencoe

The gateway to the Scottish Highlands. I remember my first time driving through Glencoe. It was a year or so after I bought my first car and it was the longest solo drive I'd done to date. I remember just staring out the car in awe and wonder at the incredible mountains in the Glencoe mountain range that just seemed to come out of nowhere. Even now, I love driving through this incredible mountain range and experiencing those same feelings of awe and wonder all over again.

Glen Docherty Viewpoint, Kinlochewe, Wester Ross, Scottish Highlands

Glen Docherty Viewpoint, Kinlochewe

This final spot might not be one you've heard of before. Its the view you get over Kinlochewe and the Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve on the road to Gairloch. I just fell in love with this view the first time I visited Gairloch almost two years ago.

Where do you get those feelings of awe and wonder when you're exploring the Scottish Highlands? What are your favourite views in the Highlands?
