Christ the Lord!
One of my favourite things about the Christmas season is looking at all the Christmas lights displays. Because its so dark at this time of year where we live, a lot of our neighbours go all out with their Christmas lights, hanging lights on big fir trees outside or hanging lights from the gutters on their house. It really brightens up what is often a very dark time of year.
The second verse of O Come all Ye Faithful speaks about light and the light that came into the world at Christmas. This verse really reminded me of Jesus' saying in John's Gospel.
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light."
John 8:12
I love Christmas lights, but after the festivities finish, the lights will be taken off the trees and buildings. However, the Light of the World that we celebrate coming to the world at Christmastime will never diminish. Jesus, the Light of Light, allows me to walk in the light rather than darkness.
