Lunch at Velocity Cafe, Inverness

The Exterior of Velocity Cafe, Inverness

It's been a real blessing over the last few months to be able to spend more time exploring the capital of the Scottish Highlands, Inverness. A few months ago, I was able to share some of my favourite places to grab coffee and lunch in Inverness, but one place we didn't manage to visit during that trip was Velocity Cafe in Crown.

Velocity Cafe and Bicycle Workshop is a quirky little spot just off the High Street in the heart of Inverness. They serve delicious coffee, as well as vegetarian and vegan brunch and lunch options.

Since we arrived at lunchtime, we decided it would be be best to get something for lunch. Velocity has an extensive and delicious menu, featuring egg dishes, cooked breakfasts and buns and wraps. In the end, I chose the delicious sounding honey and zaatar halloumi bagel, with smashed avocado, pomegranate seeds, mint yogurt, salad leaves and red onion.

My friend Olivia and Finlay had the vegetarian cooked breakfast. This featured homemade sweet potato hash browns, black pudding, smoky baked beans, mushrooms, housemade veggie haggis, tomato, fried egg and sourdough toast. Finlay said it was delicious and that he didn't have that same bunged up, bloated feeling her often gets from a normal cooked breakfast.

Some things I really want to try on our next visit include the Hot Haggis and Chili Wrap and the Huevos Rancheros. I might even work up the courage to actually try Turkish Eggs, something I have always been super intrigued by but always too nervous to pick in a restaurant.

If you're looking for somewhere to get your vegetarian or vegan brunch fix in the heart of Inverness, look no further than Velocity Cafe. Even though this was only our first time trying this spot, I can safely say we will be returning on one of our future trips to Inverness. It's an adorable spot and a great place to meet friends in the centre of the city.
