My Favourite Bookshops in the Scottish Highlands

After my post a few weeks ago sharing my favourite coffee shops on Skye, I thought it would be interesting to share some of my favourite bookshops in the Scottish Highlands. If you've been here for a wee while, you'll know how much I enjoy reading.

Leakey's, Inverness

Ah, Leakey's! What a wonderful place. If you been on social media in the last few years, you might have seen pictures from inside this treasure trove in Inverness. Situated in a converted church building in the centre of Inverness, this second hand bookshop is chock full of wonderful old books. If you're a booklover like me, I cannot recommend stopping by this amazing shop on your next trip to Inverness.

The Highland Bookshop, Fort William

When you wander along the lovely High Street in Fort William, you will find one of my favourite book shops in the Highlands. This beautiful shop features a really wonderful selection of book, from a great variety of cookbooks and a little nook featuring some really wonderful children's books. The thing I love most about this little bookshop though is their selection of Scottish books. They have a really great collection of both fiction and non-fiction books on a variety of topics in and about Scotland, including local history, travel guides, OS maps of the local area and everything in between. If you are interested in learning more about the Scottish Highlands, I would highly recommend making a visit to the Highland Bookshop to find your next read!

Hillbillies Bookshop, Gairloch

If you've read my recent post on my visit to Gairloch, you'll know how much joy it brought me to stumble across this quirky little bookshop on the West Coast. Hillbillies Bookshop is a wonderful little spot, featuring books on topics such as the environment, politics and hillwalking. It is certainly a quirky little spot, but if you are travelling along the NC500 or in the area, I would definitely recommend stopping in to find your next book to read.

Let me know if there are any other bookshops I should visit in the Scottish Highlands!
