Although I love visiting the hidden gems on the Isle of Skye, there are still a lot of the main visitor attractions on the Isle of Skye that I haven't been to see. And the the main visitor attractions on the Isle of Skye are famous for a reason. Most of these spots are truly incredible and awe-inspiring and there is a reason people make once-in-a-lifetime trips to see these spots on the Isle of Skye.
Last week, we visited Neist Point Lighthouse in North West Skye. It's one of those places on the Isle of Skye that I've seen lots of pictures of on social media or on other people's blogs, but we've just never made the trip to see ourselves.
There's something about lighthouses that I've always loved. I think it's really amazing to see these buildings that are built right on the edge of land which are used to guide ships out at sea.
We visited during the first week in October so, let's just say, the weather was slightly wild. The wind was blowing and, just as we were heading back, we got hit by a hail storm. By the time, we arrived back at our car, we were soaked and it took me a good 10 minutes to brush all the knots out of my hair. All that said we had a really wonderful time exploring this amazing spot in North West Skye.
I've said it before, but I actually prefer visiting Skye in the autumn and winter months. It's normally much quieter and I think the moody and wet weather makes Skye look much more beautiful. Although it would obviously be much nicer to visit the Isle of Skye when the weather is nice, I think the beauty of the Isle of Skye really shines when the weather is dramatic and I'm so glad we chose to visit Neist Point Lighthouse at this time of year.
