Open my Eyes

"Open my eyes that I may see

wonderful things in you law."

Psalm 119:18

At this time of year, when we've had a busy summer season for months now in the Scottish Highlands and the midges are out in full force, it can be easy to long for the cosier days of autumn. I want the roads to be less busy. I want to find time to think throughout the day, rather than being in a constant state of rush.

It can be so easy to long for future days rather than the here and now.

I was refelcting on this when I was thinking about this verse from Psalm 119. This year, reading through the Old and New Testaments in my two year Bible reading plan, it has been easy to long to be reading easy to understand sections of the Bible. To long for the potential ease of the future rather than the tough things I'm facing right now.

This verse has been a real prayer of encouragement each day. Rather than struggling through difficult sections of God's Word and wishing I was in easier to understand parts of the Bible, I can ask God to open my eyes. That I may be able to see the wonderful things He is sharing with me each day. That I might be able to see Him clearer each and every day.

Rather than wishing each day away, I can pray and ask Him to open my eyes, that I might see each day for the wonderful things He has given me.
