Our Stay at No17 The Promenade, Oban

The Bar at No17 The Promenade, Oban

After visiting the Seafood Capital of Scotland in July 2023, Oban has fast become one of my favourite places to visit in Scotland. We were fairly desperate to return, to revisit some of our favourite spots and discover new places around Oban. After finding a fantastic offer on Itison at the end of last year for a two night winter break, we decided to make the trip down to Oban for a romantic two night stay at No17 The Promenade.

No17 The Promenade is a beautiful boutique hotel, facing out onto the beautiful Oban seafront. With 7 uniquely decorated rooms, it is a place of luxury. After a busy start to the year with our work, we loved the chance to sit and relax in such a beautiful space.

As part of our stay at No17 The Promenade, we had a £50 voucher to spend at their restuarant, Porcini. We decided to book our dinner there for the first night of our stay, and loved it so much that we ended up visiting again on the second night. This Italian inspired restuarant had loads of decadent dishes feauturing some of my favourite ingredients.

Some of our highlights from the menu included Capesante alla Veneziano, a starter of Isle of Mull scallops with lemon, roasted garlic and parmesan cream, with samphire and herb crumb. For mains, Finlay enjoyed a meal of slow braised veal shank with a tomato and wine sauce, with risotto Milanese. My favourite meal that we enjoyed was a delicious baked sea bass B with sun blushed cherry tomato and herb crust, served with creamy risotto. Everything we had was decadent and delicious, perfect for a treat whilst on our break in Oban.

Our stay at No17 The Promenade also included breakfast. For me, one of the best things in the world is a hotel breakfast and the hotel breakfast at No17 The Promenade did not disappoint. The menu features delicious and nurticious options, as well as some of the nicest homemade croissants I've ever had.

Our stay at No17 The Promenade was very relaxing and the perfect little respite for the time of year. We enjoyed delicous food, as well as beautiful surroundings. It was so wonderful being able to walk out from our hotel and be 10 mintues walk from the George Street on the front of Oban. We loved being able to watch the boats coming and going from our hotel room and watch the sun setting over the bay as the winter months started to roll into spring.
