"Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel in the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers."
Psalm 1:1-3
Last week, I planted some flower seeds. I haven't always had the best of luck when it comes to planting seeds. I either forget about them entirely or I get so excited about watching them grow that I end up drowning them. I'm not one to give up on things though, so here I am again, planting marigolds, sweet peas and sunflowers.
Taking the time to plants seeds really reminded me of some of the passages in the Bible about planting seeds and gardening. There are so many passages in the Bible about planting seeds and growing plants, but one of my favourites comes from Psalm 1. I just love the image of thriving tree, with deep roots near beautiful flowing streams. It's an image of flourishing and prospering.
Over the past couple of months, I felt a bit stagnant in my faith. But I am reminding myself that, each day as I spend time with God reading His Word and praying, He is deepening my roots and helping me to grow. Every day I spend with Him, I am being gradually feed and nurtured. And soon, I will see the ways that I have grown and changed because of all that God is doing in my life.
