Sing Choirs of Angels

Sing, choirs of angels,

Sing in exulation,

Sing, all ye citizens of Heaven above!

Glory to God in the highest:

O come let us adore Him

O come let us adore Him

O come let us adore Him

Christ the Lord

I realised something as I was singing carols last week. In today's society, it isn't always normal to sing together with other people. We are nervous we might make a mistake or sing out of tune. We don't want to make a fool of ourselves, so we keep our heads down and avoid singing at all costs.

This isn't the way in the Christmas story. Throughout the Christmas account in Luke's Gospel, people are bursting into song and praising God. People cannot help but praise God through their songs. When the angels tell the shepherds about the baby that has been born in Bethlehem, they couldn't stop themselves from singing.

"And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom He is pleased!"

Luke 2:13-14

Those who were present at the birth of Jesus couldn't stop themselves from singing. They had to sing out their praises for what they were witnessing.

This weekend, as my church has their annual carol service, I hope I can sing with the same adoration and praise as the angels did that night on a hill outside Bethlehem.
