Some Thoughts on Rest

"Truly my soul finds rest in God;

my salvation comes from Him."

Psalm 62:1

You may or may not have noticed my absence over the last few weeks. My husband and I actually took the last few weeks off on holiday. We've been very busy over the past few months and we were very blessed to be able to head down to the Lake District for a wee holiday at the end of September.

Over the last 18 months, I feel like I've gotten really bad at actually resting. Spending prolonged periods of time at home, with very little else to do, has meant that I've gotten really good at filling my time with stuff and not actually resting.

Getting to go away gave us a chance to rest in physical ways, such as catching up on sleep and getting to go on nice walks. But it also allowed us to rest in spiritual ways. We were able to talk about ways we've been slipping up over the past few months, we were able to chat about how we want to grow in our faith. Spending time away also has given me a new excitement for reading God's Word

Getting the chance to go to the Lake District was such a joy, but getting to rest in God and rediscover my love for Him has been the real joy of my time off.

How and where do you find rest?
