Sunday Brunch at Cafe Cuil

Something I miss about city life is the ability to head out of the house and go for a delicious brunch somewhere new. This is no longer the case in the Scottish Highlands as we headed out to grab some food a one of Skye's newest food spots.

Cafe Cuil is based near Carbost in the Minginish Penisula. We actually visited a couple of times last year but we ended up always going for coffee rather heading for brunch. But we finally made it out a few weeks ago for a classic post-church brunch at Cafe Cuil.

One of our favourite things about the newer food spots in the Scottish Highlands is how much they use the fantastic seasonal produce on offer in the area. For my brunch, I enjoyed poached eggs on sourdough toast with parma prosciutto, wild garlic pesto and rocket. Finlay had the Scotch pancakes with rhubarb and gingernut crumble and gorse flower mascarpone. Trying beautiful flavours of spring like rhubarb, gorse and wild garlic is just one of my favourite things about the seasonal changes in the Scottish Highlands.

We arrived at Cafe Cuil about about 2 o'clock on a Sunday without booking in advance, and we were very lucky to be seated straight away when we arrived. Cafe Cuil recently recommended on their Instagram that between 12 and 2:30pm were their peak times, so if you are wanting to avoid the busiest times, make sure to come between 10 and 12 or between 2:30 and 4pm. Otherwise you may have to wait for a table. I'd also highly recommend keeping up to date with Cafe Cuil's instagram to see what seasonal dishes they have on during your visit and any specials they might have on that day. You can find out more about brunch at Cafe Cuil and some of the delicious dishes they are serving when you visit here.
