Supper at IV10, Fortrose

The Exterior of IV10, Fortrose, the Black Isle, Scottish Highlands

Over the past three and a half years of living in the Scottish Highlands, I have managed to gather a fairly long list of places I want to visit. I thought that after a few years of living in this part of the world, I would have managed to tick a lot of places off my list. It turns out, I just keep adding more and more places to my "to-visit" as I discover more incredible places in the Scottish Highlands.

One place I've wanted to visit for a long time is IV10 in Fortrose. I first heard about this spot from food blogger Adele from Tartan Spoon. The Black Isle is a part of the Scottish Highlands I always love returning to, and I knew the next trip we had to the Black Isle, we had to visit this eatery in the village of Fortrose.

We arrived at IV10 at about 4 o'clock without having made a reservation. It was a risky move but we thought we'd be okay considering what a weird time of day it was. Thankfully the staff were incredibly accomodating and were able to squeeze us in. Even though we arrived after lunch service had finished and before the dinner service had started, they still had a wide range of 'counter choices' that are available all day.

Charcuterie Board, IV10, Fortrose, the Black Isle, Scottish Highlands

We decided we want to have something a little savoury, so opted for one of their charcuterie boards. The staff checked if we had any aversions (absolutely no blue cheese for us) and were able to make a board that suited our preferences. When I say this was one of the most delicious charcuterie boards I've ever had, I really do mean it. We also had a portion of their house made sourdough with garlic confit. The perfect 4 o'clock snack in my opinion.

We had coffees and cakes to finish up, and these were no less delicious. I decided to have a chocolate, hazelnut and cranberry brownie. I wouldn't normally pick a brownie as my dessert of choice, but this particular combination really stood out to me. The brownie was decadent and delicious. A real treat on a Saturday afternoon.

We may not have had any hot food from IV10, but we had an incredible time there. We had such a lovely relaxed time there. The staff made us feel incredible welcome (despite the strange time we arrived) and we enjoyed some really incredible things to eat and enjoy. I can't wait to return!
