Only a few years ago, I really didn't like spending time at the beach at all. But I have come around to just wonderful it is to spend time at the beach.
Recently my family were up visiting us for the weekend. We wanted to take them somewhere new and to explore a new part of the Isle of Skye that we hadn't been to before. With beautiful spring weather on our side, we decided to head to the Minginish Peninsula and head to Talisker Bay.
If you've ever seen pictures of Talisker Bay, you would have noticed the intriguing black and white sand that lines the shore. This is one of the things I knew about this beach prior to visiting. The unique sand makes for an amazing place to enjoy and a really unusual beach to visit in the Scottish Highlands!
One of the things I dislike the most about going to the beach is how busy many of the more popular beaches are. Living in Scotland, however, the weather never really allows for a lot of sunbathing or swimming in warm water. This normally means that most beaches in Scotland are not too busy.
After having our picnic at the beach, we wanted to have a little after pick-me-up. So we headed to the newly opened Cafe Cuil near Carbost. I've been following them on social media since they opened and I was so excited to have the chance to visit. We just had some tea and baking this time (although that white chocolate rocky road was so good!) but I'm really hoping we can get up to Carbost in the next few months to enjoy their brunch menu.
If you are looking for an interesting and relaxing beach walk on the Isle of Skye, I would highly recommend this walk.

Some Tips
There is no car park near where you are supposed to start the walk to Talisker Bay. A lot of cars were parked at the side of the road.
There are also no toilets at Talisker Bay, however there are public toilets in Carbost that you could use before or after your trip.
At the time of visiting, Talisker Distillery Visitor Centre was shut for renovations. Obviously we were slightly disappointed to not be able to visit this time, but we look forward to visiting the distillery and Carbost again when the visitor centre reopens (which is hopefully late summer 2022).
