The Dunvegan Two Churches Walk

What do you do when there's a storm coming in? Head to the Isle of Skye for a winters walk, of course!

With a free Saturday, we decided to wrap up warm and brace the stormy weather for a chance at exploring one of my favourite parts of the Isle of Skye - Dunvegan. We had planned to head out to Neist Point, a popular place for tourists in the summer months that I have yet to visit myself. However, the stormy weather sent us further inland on our walk. Neist Point will have to wait for another day!

One thing I strongly believe is that you can't go for a winter walk without some good food in your stomach. So we headed to The Dunvegan for a bit of lunch and a hot chocolate before starting. I enjoyed the delicious "Dunvegan Dawg", a Scottish speciality hotdog in a beautiful homemade roll with onions and the Dunvegan's own house sauce. I really enjoyed it! We also had the chance to explore their little Deli and Shop, which features a zero waste refill station and some lovely eco friendly products from across Scotland.

The Two Churches Walk is a circular loop which goes between the ruin of St Mary's Church and Duirinish Parish Church. It can be a bit steep in places (and for us it was quite muddy due to the wild weather) but it is a really enjoyable walk showing off lots of the beautiful sites in Dunvegan and the surrounding landscape. We enjoyed excellent views over to MacLeods Tables and over the village of Dunvegan. It was an ideal post-lunch afternoon walk, taking us about 45 minutes to do the full loop.

I'm hoping that this will be the year I finally get to visit some of the more popular spots on the Isle of Skye, such as Dunvegan Castle and Neist Point. Until then, I am so happy to be able to explore some of the less well known parts of the Misty Isle and share my thoughts of the beautiful Isle of Skye with you.

If you want to explore the walk for yourself, you can find out more information on the Walk Highlands website.
