If you weren't able to go to your church ever again, what would you miss most?
This is a question I had never really considered before the pandemic. I live in Scotland, where we still have relative freedom to go to church. However, this last year has helped me realise just how wonderful meeting with my Christian brothers and sisters in church each week has been.
In the last few weeks, Highland Council moved down Level 1 of lockdown easings. It has made little difference in my life overall, however there is one thing that has been greatly impacted: we are now able to sing (with masks on) in church!
If I'm really honest, I didn't think not singing with a group of people for over a year would make much of a difference to my walk with God. But, in reality, I cannot tell you how much of a difference it has made.
Being free to praise God with my fellow Christians, to laugh and cry with them in a way I haven't been able to in the last year is something I really have missed. Because it's isn't just about singing with other people, it's about worshiping God with all of my heart.
"Sing to the Lord a new song, His praise in the assembly of His faithful people." Psalm 149:1
