"Blessed are those who keep his statutes
and seek Him with all their heart-
they do no wrong
but follow His ways."
Psalm 119:2-3
This year, I've made a conscious effort to try to spend more time reading my Bible and praying than I've done in the past. If you ask most Christians at the start of a new year, they'll probably say they want to do the same thing. It's very easy to say you'll do something, but particularly as the year gets busier, much more difficult to put that sentiment into practice.
This year, I have really tried to make more time to spend in God's Word. I'm taking part in a two year Bible readthrough plan, meaning I'm supposed to be reading at least one chapter from the Old Testament and one chapter from the New Testament every day. There's been a few periods of time when I've missed a couple of days in a row, which then means I have a lot of extra reading to catch up on later down the line.
Yet, I can see how my faith has grown by dedicating so much of my time to reading God's Word. I can see the ways my character is being shaped by what I'm reading each day. I can see the ways my own knowledge is growing. I can see the ways I am leaning on God more and more each day.
The truth is I will never be perfect. I am constantly doing the wrong thing. That's who I am as a person. But I can trust that each day I put my trust in Him, His blessing is on my life.
