What Easter Means to Me

"Were the whole realm of nature mine,

That were a present far too small;

Love so amazing, so divine,

Demands my soul, my life, my all."

As Easter Sunday approaches, I've been reflecting more and more on what message of Easter means to me in my life. Over the Christmas period, I shared all my Advent Reflections, something I really loved doing. However, with Easter approaching, I have struggled to put into words what Easter means to me.

I'm not sure if it's the miraculous nature of the Christmas story. With the miraculous birth of a baby who who would grow up to be the Messiah and Saviour of the World. It is such a wonderful story and its so easy to reflect on the story with joy and wonder. The Easter story, however, which features betrayal, taunting, suffering and death is a much more difficult part of the Bible to reflect on and put my feelings into words.

It's hard to put into words just how much the Easter message means to me, but I think that the final two lines of When I Survey really sum it up best. The love that Jesus showed to the whole world on the cross is so amazing, so divine, that it demands every part of my praise and worship. It demands a change in my whole life.

After coming to a realisation of all that Jesus has really done for me, there's no other response I can give other than altering my whole life to follow Him.
