What's on my Summer Bucket List

Since starting this blog, I've shared a couple of these blogposts where I share some of the things I hope to do in the year. The summer months for people living in the Scottish Highlands are often pretty busy, with the tourist season well underway, but I always like to take full advantage of the summer when it's here.

Visit Ullapool

My absolute number thing I want to do this summer. Last summer when we visited Gairloch, I totally fell in love with Wester Ross and this beautiful part of the world. Ullapool is the next place in this part of the world that I am desperate to visit. There are a number of places we want to visit in Ullapool, including the Seafood Shack, and I so excited to take a roadtrip and tick Ullapool off my summer bucket list.

Get on a Boat

Growing up in Glasgow, it only took us half an hour to get down to the Clyde coast. Throughout my childhood and whenever I'm visiting my parents today, we inevitably end up in a spot "doon the water", whether that's Gourock, Largs or Helensburgh. Living in Lochalsh nowadays, I'm still not very far from beautiful lochs and the sea.

Amazingly though, we actually have never been on a boat trip in the Scottish Highlands and this is why it is on my summer bucket list this year. I would love see the beautiful Isle of Skye from the water. Or maybe even get on a boat trip on Loch Ness. Either way, I am really hoping this summer, we can get on a boat locally to see some local sights from our beautiful coastlines.

Get in some Water

Summer time is also the perfect time to get in some water. I have to admit, I'm not always entirely comfortable wild swimming in some parts of the Highlands and am still always a bit nervous of what might be lurking below.

I'm challenging myself this summer to really get out of my comfort zone and enjoy spending more time in water.

Anything you think I've missed from my summer bucket list?
