Where to grab a coffee on the Isle of Skye

There are many things people want to see when they come to the Isle of Skye. The Fairy Pools. The Old Man of Storr. The Quiraing. It has some of the most dramatic landscape in Scotland.

Here's the thing about visiting all these places though: all the driving involved in seeing all the amazing things Skye has to offer is pretty tiring. So why not make some time during your visit to check out some of the nicest coffee spots on the island! This list covers some of my grab a quick coffee in various places on the island, so you should hopefully be able to get your caffeine fix wherever you are on the island.

Lean To Coffee Shop, Ashaig, Isle of Skye

Lean To Coffee, Ashaig

Located just off the main road about 10 minutes drive north of the Skye Bridge, Lean To is a really unique coffee spot. The owners have transformed what remains of an old croft house into an outdoor seating area with the coffee shop in a shipping container beside the house. Inspired by coffee shops in Australia, this spot sells delicious hot drinks as well as wonderful salads, sandwiches and cakes. It is a wonderful little spot and a great place to stop on your next adventure on the Isle of Skye

Caora Dubh Coffee Shop, Carbost, Isle of Skye

Caora Dhudh, Carbost

Located just across from the famous Talisker Distillery in Carbost, Caora Dhubh (which means "Black Sheep" in Gaelic) serves their own in house roasted coffee, as well as delicious tea and hot chocolate.

One of the best things about this spot? Being able to sit beside the beautiful Loch Harport and enjoy the wonderful views on this part of the Isle of Skye with a delicious hot drink in hand.

Old Man of Storr Mural outside Birch Coffee Shop, Portree, Isle of Skye

Birch Coffee, Portree

Birch opened a few years ago, but it is one of the nicest little coffee spots in the centre of Portree. They even have their own roastery which opened in 2021, allowing them to roast small batches of coffee for a premium, quality taste. One of my favourite things about Birch? The amazing mural outside the window in the shop which shows some of the most beautiful spots on the Isle of Skye, which have inspired me to tick off seeing the top spots on this wonderful island.

Hopefully, these suggestions will help you as you find your next coffee fix on the beautiful Isle of Skye. Let me know if there are any other great spots to grab a coffee on the Isle of Skye.
