Where to Grab Coffee in Inverness

If you've read my blog for a while, you'll know just how much I love visiting the Capital of the Highlands, Inverness. Over the years, I've loved to see how much the city has grown and all the independent businesses that are opening there.

A few years ago, I shared my favourite places to grab coffee on the Isle of Skye. It's since become one of my most read blogposts, so I thought I'd share another version of this blogpost, all about Inverness.

Chocolate and Caramel Cookie, Bad Girl Bakery, Inverness

Bad Girl Bakery, Victorian Market

This one has been a long time favourite of mine. We first visited Bad Girl Bakery's shop in Muir of Ord on a day trip to Beauly a few years ago. Not long after that first visit, Bad Girl Bakery opened an outlet in the newly refurbished Victorian Market in the centre of Inverness, which we loved during a visit at the end of 2022.

We recently visited and enjoyed one of their stuffed chocolate and caramel cookies. We ended up sharing this treat between three of us, but it was so good. I love a chocolate chip cookie so I am pretty game to try it from most places. This was a real treat! I also love the coffee served here. It's an ideal spot right in the heart of Inverness.

Xoko Bakehouse, Inverness

Xoko Bakehouse and Coffee Bar, Bridge Street

Xoko has been a spot I've wanted to visit for years, but I only recently managed to visit for the first time very recently. If I was to narrow down my favourite type of baking, it would probably be pastries. I love the flaky texture, particularly when paired with a delicious filling.

On our last morning in Inverness recently, we had a couple of minutes before we had to leave, so we decided to pop in and pick up a few pasties for the road. We decided to buy a delicious passionfruit croissant and a coconut pain au chocolat. I particuarly loved the pain au chocolat-I love the combo of coconut and coconut, so it was perfect with their delcious homemade croissant as well. I'm so glad we finally got a chance to visit Xoko Bakehouse, and I'm really excited to visit again in the future.

Tablescape, Grain and Grind, Inverness

Grain and Grind, Tomnahurich Street

We've visited Grain and Grind a few times over the years, but I'm not sure I've ever talked about it here on the blog. Since it opened, it has fast become one of my favourite places to grab a coffee in Inverness. Grain and Grind roast their own beans, which you can also buy in their shop and online. If you're someone who's really keen on coffee, this is the spot for you in Inverness city centre. It's become a real firm favourite of mine over the last year or so.

Hopefully this list will inspire you to try somewhere new the next time you visit Inverness. Let me know if there's anywhere I've missed from the list of my favourite places to grab a coffee in Inverness.
